Foothills Nordic President, Michelle Deacon and Fundraising Director, Jane Cook recently attended the Parks Foundation Amateur Sport Grant Showcase on March 15. This exciting event was charged with the positive and unbounded energy of Calgarians passionate about building active, healthy communities through their sport and community organizations or funding support.
Foothills Nordic was one of three organizations chosen to participate in videos showcased at the event. You can watch the video by clicking on the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-D-RF9nz7g
The support received from Parks Foundation, Calgary Flames Hockey Club and the Saddledome Foundation directly impacted Foothills Nordic’s ability to deliver cross-country ski programming to youth and adults at Confederation Park Golf Course for the past two seasons, as well as:
- purchase additional skis for the Ski at School program, where Foothills Nordic brings skiing to between 700 and 1000 elementary students per year;
- purchase biathlon equipment; and
- provide an ancillary benefit of free access to local clubs, school groups and the public to cross-country skiing on groomed trails in Calgary (Golf Course winter visit data collected for the 2016/17 season indicated almost 15,000 visits!).
A BIG thank you to Parks Foundation, Calgary Flames Hockey Club and the Saddledome Foundation for their generous support!
