When was the last time you got a hand-made thank you card? Foothills Nordic received a bunch from Calgary school children that participated in Cross Country Canada’s Ski at School program this past season. Almost 1000 school-aged children were able to try out cross-country skiing right in their schoolyards – and in one case in downtown Calgary!
Ski at School has come to kids for the past 9 years. It was the vision and hard work Chris and Matt Jeffries and Marlene Augsten, Ski at School Program Coordinator and the generous support of AltaGas that enabled Foothills to bring equipment, certified coaches and grooming right to schools.
Seeing the success of the program, Cross Country Canada rolled the program out nationally last year, with local clubs applying to deliver the program. Foothills will see more “happy hearts” for the coming year as it continues to deliver Ski at School.
After years of supporting the program: securing sponsorship and running the program, Marlene Augsten is moving on to other adventures. Our thank you card to you is a huge one, Marlene!
