Program Description

Introduction to Competition (I2C) is a late entry to competitive racing program for beginners teenagers with the goal that participants will join our racing program (T1, T2 or LC) in 1-2 years.

Athletes will learn the basics of off season training through activities including: roller skiing, hiking, running, ski striding, strength training, and balance/agility. On snow, athletes will learn classic and skate skiing techniques. The development of aerobic fitness will be emphasized as well as having fun in a social environment. Skiers are encouraged to participate in competition and will be able to race many times during the season. Participants who have participated in other sports and are committed to attending practices will have the best success in this program.

Optional Camp:

  • Lake Louise Camp, November 13 – 15, 2020

Optional training camp costs are not included in program fees and are on a cost-recovery basis. Camp dates are tentative and may deviate by a few days.

Race support will be provided at Alberta Cup series, and some local loppets.
