Foothills Cross Country Ski athletes competed the past weekend in Kelowna at Western Canadian Championships. The club came back with a total of 8 medals despite the cold conditions.
In the Classic Mass Start race, Junior boys Tom Stephen and Xavier McKeever topped the podium winning first and second place respectively. For the Women, Alberta Cup points leader in the Juvenile Girls, Alison Gartner, placed 2nd in her category, with Jill Stephen picking up the bronze.
In the Skate Sprint race, Alison Gartner and Jill Stephen again took silver and bronze, with Xavier McKeever winning his category and Rhys James picking up the bronze medal.
The polar vortex made for chilly conditions across Canada and extra tough conditions for our athletes at Westerns. Congratulations to everyone for your success!
