At Foothills Nordic, we’re driven by a love for cross-country skiing and the thrill of winter adventure! We embrace the challenge of mastering technique, enjoy the invigorating outdoor experience, and cherish the lasting friendships built within our vibrant nordic community. We offer expert instruction in both classic and skate techniques for skiers of all ages and abilities. Our programs are held at Confederation Park Golf Course, with many sessions extending to the stunning Canmore Nordic Centre and the beautiful mountain parks on weekends.     Bunnies (4-5)

    Bunny sessions are focused on “ski-play” as children learn movement on cross country skis and develop basic motor skills through participation in games and activities and having FUN.

    NEW! Maple Ridge Bunnies (4-5)

    We’re excited to be offering our Bunnies program at Maple Ridge Golf Course. These sessions are focused on “ski-play” as children learn movement on cross country skis and develop basic motor skills through participation in games and activities and having FUN.

    Jackrabbits Levels 1 & 2 (6-7)

    Jackrabbits will acquire basic ski skills while developing agility, balance, coordination and speed with an emphasis on FUN and participation! Jackrabbits develop through a progressive skill program following the Cross Country Canada Jackrabbit model.

    Jackrabbits 3, 4 & Plus (8-9)

    Jackrabbits develop through a progressive skill program following the Cross Country Canada Jackrabbit model. Jackrabbits Plus is designed for kids with an interest in skiing more than once a week. Jackrabbits Levels 3 &. 4 include Dryland training.

    Jackrabbits Pikas Learn to Ski (U10)

    Jackrabbits Pikas program is targeted at kids ages 7-9 NEW to skiing (or have done limited nordic skiing). The program will mainly work at Jackrabbit Level 2 skills (classic), with the goal to have kids ready for JR level 2 or 3 in the next season.

    Jackrabbits Hares Learn To Ski (U12)

    Track Attack (10-11)

    As a progression from the Jackrabbit program, Track Attack is a skill development program aimed at improving skate and classic techniques in a fun and social environment. Track Attack will promote teamwork and personal interaction skills.

    Train to Train Level 1 (12-13)

    As a progression from the Track Attack program, Train to Train 1 is the next stage in Cross Country Canada’s Long Term Development Framework. It is aimed at improving skate and classic techniques in a fun and social environment. Skiers are encouraged to participate in competition and will be able to race many times during the season.

    Train to Train Level 2 (14-16)

    Train to Train 2 includes an introduction to sport rules and ethics, nutrition, goal setting skills, teamwork, personal interaction skills and fitness testing.

    Adventure Ski (U14)

    The U14 Adventure Ski (formally Marmots) program is intended for youth who are interested in skiing for fun, fitness and friendship. Includes group ski sessions to develop and improve on skills.

    Learn To Compete (17-18)

    Learn to Compete (LC) is for athletes seeking improvement and refinement in XC skiing. Training sessions and workout modes are specifically catered to meet different athlete needs depending on their development.

    Adventure Ski (U18)

    U18 Adventure Ski (formally Teen) is intended for skiers aged 14+ with prior nordic experience who are interested in skiing for fun, fitness and friendship. NEW Participants can register for the Fall Adventure Dryland program independent of the On-Snow program.

  • Peak Nordiq

    Peak Nordiq is our High-performance U20+ team for athletes attending post secondary education. The aim of the program is to allow each individual athlete to reach their maximum potential while balancing academic pursuits.

Sport For Life”

Foothills Nordic Ski Club programs follow Sport Canada's Sport for Life model, supporting the physical, mental, emotional, and cognitive development of participants. Our Children’s Programs focus on the FUNdamentals of skiing, fostering a love for the sport and outdoor activity. Youth Programs cater to ages 12-16, offering a mix of recreational and competitive experiences in cross-country skiing and biathlon. These programs, guided by the Nordiq Canada LTAD model, help athletes build skills, fitness, and a strong foundation for continued growth in either recreational or competitive skiing.
