55+ Women Program

This program is designed for women with some cross-country skiing experience who want to improve their skills, build confidence, and enjoy a social and supportive environment.

Fall Dryland Training

This pre-season program prepares you for winter with outdoor sessions held in central and northwest Calgary, running rain or shine. Training focuses on:

  • Ski striding (walking uphill and downhill with poles)

  • Bodyweight strength and stability exercises for upper and lower body

  • Core, agility, balance, and coordination drills

  • Low-impact movements with minimal to no jogging, running, or hopping

  • Suitable for those comfortable walking up and down hills repeatedly

Winter Program

The priority is safety, comfort, and confidence on skis through structured movement, mobility exercises, skill drills, and free skiing in a relaxed, social setting. Sessions focus on:

  • Improving ski technique and efficiency

  • Classic skiing, with the option to include skate skiing based on participant interest

  • Progressions designed to build confidence on flat, uphill, and downhill terrain

Program Details

  • 55+ Women

  • Fall Dryland:  Thursday 1:00-2:00pm – Mid-September to Mid-November (10 Sessions)

    Winter:  Wednesday 1:00-2:30pm or Thursday 1-230pm – December to March (approximately 10 to 12 sessions depending on the snow conditions!)

  • Our prime location will be Confederation Park Golf Course. There may be a few planned outings to Canmore Nordic Centre depending on the snow conditions.

  • 2024/2025 Fees

    There will be a maximum of 18 participants allowed to register, and a waitlist for another 8 that we will accommodate based on coaching availability.
