Ski Trails at Confederation Park

The Foothills Nordic Ski Club operates and maintains cross-country ski trails at the City of Calgary-owned Confederation Park Golf Course and West Confederation Park. Located at 3204 Collingwood Dr NW, the trails offer approximately 6 km of classic and skate skiing suitable for beginners and up.

  • In 2016, the installation of a tube park at Canada Olympic Park displaced local skiers, highlighting the need for reliable ski trails in Calgary. Through snowmaking and other improvements, the trails at Confederation Park and other local golf courses provide a sustainable option for cross-country skiing, promoting active and healthy lifestyles for all.

  • Parking is available from early December through March. The lot is open Monday–Thursday (9 AM – 9 PM) and Friday–Sunday (9 AM – 6 PM). Please ensure your vehicle is out before closing, as the gates will be locked. If the lot is full, please park along 19 St. or at Canmore Park.

  • The trails are lit Monday through Thursday until 8:30 PM. There are no warming facilities, but a porta-potty is on-site.

  • The trails are open to the public year-round and are maintained through a partnership with Foothills Nordic Ski Club, which relies heavily on volunteers. The ski trails are free to use, but donations and trail fees help ensure their continued operation.

  • Support Nordic sport access in Calgary by volunteering or contributing to trail fees. Learn more about Volunteering here.

Support Cross-Country Skiing in Calgary!

Whether you're hitting the trails at Confederation Park Golf Course or Canmore Park for training or just enjoying a day on the snow, your support helps keep skiing alive in Calgary.

While skiing at these local parks and golf courses is free for all Calgarians, the cost of maintaining and operating the trails falls to local ski clubs. Trail fees directly fund essential services like equipment maintenance, grooming, parking lot clearing, and providing amenities such as lighting, portable restrooms, and snow-making.

Your contribution ensures that skiing remains accessible and sustainable in Calgary, year-round. Thank you for helping keep our trails open and ready for every skier, whether you visit once a year or once a day!
