Today is a historic day in Cross Country Skiing for Canada. Canada won its first ever medal in a relay at the 2020 World Junior Championships, in Oberwiesenthal, Germany. A big story for Foothills. Two of the four skiers and one of the Nordiq Canada coaches were from Foothills!
With the support of Foothills Head Coach, Eric Groeneveld, skiers Tom Stephen and Xavier McKeever skied to a silver medal in the 4x5k relay along with team mates Oliver Leveille and Remi Drolet. Canada was strong leading into the relay with all members of the relay having top 30 finishes (McKeever finished 17 in the 10k Classic and Stephen finished 17th in the 30k Classic). These results made the team believe they would medal today and they DID! A second place finish at this level and this early stage of their skiing career means great things to come for Canada and Foothills. Congratulations to everyone involved.
